The family

The Sartirano family has been making wine since 1871, and they have always run the business themselves maintaining the utmost respect for tradition and territory. After the war in the year 1946 Giovanni Sartirano reorganized the company. In 1976, his sons Giovanni and Piero built a modern winery - named Cantine San Silvestro after the area in which it is located - designed to produce local wines to the highest standards
In 1988 they purchased Tenuta Arnulfo Costa di Bussia, an historical estate in Monforte d’Alba with 15 hectares of vineyards facing south.
In 2002, cousins Paolo and Guido Sartirano purchased the Ghercina estate in the villages of Novello and Barolo, where the company’s headquarters have been located since 2006. While in the early days they entirely focused on the local market, their interest has gradually spread over the generations towards the world market, and today - also thanks to brave decisions they sometimes made - the company run by cousins Paolo and Guido Sartirano is proud to offer a range of high quality wines distributed throughout the different continents.
